New look for «Zum Schiff» apartments

New floors, ceilings and kitchens: In a first stage, 14 flats in the apartment house «Zum Schiff» were completely renovated. By the end of 2020, all renovation work should be completed.
The apartment house «Zum Schiff» in Baden has an impressive history. In 1928, the Swiss National Accident Insurance Fund Suva entered the spa treatment business. It acquired the «Quellenhof» in Baden – today's «Zum Schiff» – as a spa resort. The classicist building from 1830 cost 320,000 francs at the time, and Suva invested a further 400,000 francs in its renovation. The first patients were admitted to the «Quellenhof» on 15 July 1929, and by the end of September 1929 the house was already full to the last seat with 60 patients. Treatment was mainly for joint stiffness and inflammation, circulation problems in the extremities, sciatica, fistulas and ulcers on amputation stumps.

From Suva to Starimo3000
In 1996, when a renewal became necessary, Suva had the development possibilities for the spa clinic in Baden clarified. Disillusioned, the investigation found that adjustments would «inevitably result in a noticeable reduction in beds». This endangered the economic viability of a continuation. The Board of Directors therefore decided on 16 June 2000 to close this 72-year chapter in the Suva story (Source: Suva history for the 100-year anniversary). The end of Suva's spa treatment business in Baden was the starting signal for Starimo3000. After the purchase in 2001, the property was completely renovated and two floors were subsequently rented to the Grand Casino Baden as a boarding house. After five years this contract expired. Since then, GLANDON has been offering furnished apartments in «Zum Schiff». Commercial tenants from the health sector have been accommodated in the property since 2001. From a child and youth psychiatric clinic, psychologists, Vijit Wellness & Health to Rong Chen TCM and Rantamäki physiotherapy – at Bäderstrasse 18 in Baden, numerous health services can be found under one roof.

Floors, ceilings and kitchens
According to the website of GLANDON Apartments, the flats in «Zum Schiff» invite tenants to feel comfortable. To ensure that this promise can be kept in the future, Starimo3000 has decided to completely renovate the apartments. The first stage took place in the second half of 2019 – the second stage will follow by the end of 2020. New floors, ceilings and kitchens: 14 apartments on two floors have been given a fresh look. «The rooms have become very beautiful, almost resident-like,» says Heidy Glanzmann, founder and CEO of Starimo3000. Now the original character of the property can be seen again. Because even before the time when Suva was a spa resort, the «Zum Schiff» was a pompous hotel. This shows: The history of the property goes back even further than expected – and hopefully will not end for a long time yet.
